Worcestershire Gay Men's Health Project has been running since 1992. The project offers free, confidential advice and support on safer sex within the gay and bisexual community by:
The Project works with a range of voluntary and statutory agencies, including Worcestershire Social Services, local homeless hostels and day centres. Advice, support and training is available across the full range of sexual health issues, including: sexuality, heterosexism and homophobia awareness.
Worcestershire Gay Men's Health Project works with all high schools, special needs schools, pupil referral units and colleges throughout Worcestershire to develop anti-gay bullying strategies. Young gay men are more likely to suffer from loneliness, isolation and depression as a consequence of homophobic bullying. Safer sex is unlikely to be a priority for such young men. This service is available to all students, staff, parents, carers and school nurses.
The Project also works in Partnership with the West Mercia Police Service addressing issues of homophobic hate crime and ensuring support and counselling is available to all victims.
